GRAND HYATT DEER VALLEY PARK CITY, UTAH, USA
It is being touted as the first luxury alpine village of its kind in North America since 1981 and it is now open for business. Grand Hyatt’s first hotel in Utah has 381 luxury guestrooms, all with views of the Rocky Mountains, Jordanelle Reservoir and Heber Valley, seen through oversized windows. 55 residential suites have balconies, fireplaces and kitchenettes. All rooms and suites come with bathrobes, blackout curtains, hair dryers, TV, coffee makers and the all-important mini-fridge/bar!
Wining and dining is covered by Remington Hall open all day, Hidden Ace (a speakeasy) Living Room for après ski and Double Blacks for a coffee and a croissant. Not necessarily in that order. There’s nighttime entertainment, quixotically three oversized hot tubs, a heated outdoor pool and the pool deck has spectacular mountain views. The hotel is pet friendly — for a price — and I guess there might be limitations to the definition of “pet” — and there will be a spa, but it won’t open until 2025. Which, you know, isn’t terribly far away.

ASHER ADAMS AUTOGRAPH COLLECTION SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, USA
The Union Pacific Depot building in Salt Lake City, a once bustling railway station where east met west (although, technically, that’s true of every single inch of the planet) is now the Asher Adams, an Autograph Collection hotel. The name of the hotel comes from two American railroad cartographers, John R Asher and George H Adams. The building has been restored inside and out, keeping, gloriously, many of the original features like the terrazzo floors and stained-glass windows. With 225 guest rooms, striking views of the Wasatch Mountains and downtown, bars and restaurants, meetings and events space and a fitness center, the property is all within spitting — polite spitting — distance of everywhere you want to go in Salt Lake City.
ARLO WASHINGTON DC, USA
November 19th Arlo opened, located in the Judiciary Square neighborhood, on the site of The Harrison Apartments, DC’s oldest-known surviving apartment complex, which was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1994. It’s a perfect example of Romanesque Revival style. If you don’t know what that is, we can’t be friends. The folks behind Arlo restored and preserved the building, and added 12 storeys, altogether yeilding 445 guest rooms and suites. The suites in the old building have the original exposed brick in their small dens. There’s an indoor-outdoor rooftop lounge, bar and pool, an intriguingly monickered “Bodega” café and lounge, and Arrels is the destination restaurant, created by Chef Pepe Moncayo, on the ground floor. And yes there is a gym! Of course there’s a gym!

PERRY HOTEL NAPLES, FLORIDA, USA
Just in time for New Year, the Perry, a boutique hotel brand, opens their second hotel in Florida (the first was in Key West and opened in 2017). Located along the Cocohatchee River in North Naples, this is a new building, designed to reflect the local ecosystem, with seven floors and 160 guest rooms, most with balconies with views of the Gulf of Mexico and Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park Beaches. On the roof, you will find a pool with a bar and the Tigress restaurant, and they have panoramic views. On the ground floor another pool with, thoughtfully, a tapas eatery.
Wander down the boardwalk from the pool through a mangrove-infused conversation area, to the pier, marina and dock and take dolphin and sunset cruises, or participate in other water sports. In the lobby, which is two storeys high, you will find a coffee bar. And, OK, yes, there is a fitness center.

RAFFLES SENTOSA SINGAPORE
Originally scheduled to open late this year, it looks like 2025 is more likely, but when it does, Singapore will have a second Raffles — the original opened over 135 years, so it is probably time, but it is almost like the Vatican getting a second St Peter’s.
The Raffles Sentosa is an all-villa (62 to be precise) property, each with private swimming pool and terrace, and beachfront on Sentosa Island. The hotel continues the brand’s dedication to luxury and exclusivity, with tropical gardens and views of the South China Sea, while being, a little incredibly, in the middle of a city. The Sentosa Sling cocktail will debut on opening.
