INSIDER TRAVEL REPORT
Traverse Journeys is expanding its Women’s Only Adventure Portfolio
Female founded Traverse Journeys are expanding 2027 small group offerings focused on local partners, culture and outdoor experiences.
The “Monarch Butterfly Retreat” in Michoacán, Mexico, runs Feb. 20 to 24, 2027, with sanctuary excursions, yoga, local meals and community experiences.
“Egypt Reimagined”, March 14 to 22, highlights living culture and artisans. There’s a Cyprus retreat April 17 to 25, amid rising demand for custom travel, including Morocco.
New offerings include a women’s trek through Chile’s Patagonia region April 18 to 24 and the inaugural Monarch Butterfly Retreat takes travelers to Mexico’s mountains, to witness millions of monarchs completing their winter migration to the oyamel forests, with two guided sanctuary excursions by hike or horseback alongside expert, local conservationists. The itinerary includes daily yoga, locally sourced meals, and time with the community of Macheros, whose artisans and small businesses are closely tied to the health of the reserves.
“Egypt Reimagined” is a focus not just on the ancient but the living Egypt. On this itinerary, travelers meet local artisans and women entrepreneurs, cycle to the Dahshour countryside to lesser–known– but equally as spectacular pyramids, share tea in a colorful Nubian village, enjoy farm-to-table meals, discover Cairo’s thriving creative scenes, and explore the spectacular new Grand Egyptian Museum.
The “Patagonia W-Trek Women’s Retreat”, April 18-24, 2027, in Chile is led by longtime retreat leader Kim Jeffs, marking her fifth retreat with the company. A licensed therapist and somatic coach, Kim weaves leadership practices into her retreats, this time across roughly 45 miles of the W Trek through Torres del Paine National Park alongside a local, certified trekking guide. Granite peaks, turquoise lakes, and Glacier Grey are the backdrop to her practices and reflection.
The experience also includes a day at a working Patagonian estancia, a community partner donation, and a boutique fjord lodge stay to celebrate it all.
Traverse has seen a renewed interest in Jordan following a successful 2026 group departure, with travelers praising how safe and welcomed they felt throughout the journey. “Taste & Trails of Jordan” returns in May and October.
The “Cyprus Adventure Retreat” April 17-25, 2027, features adventure retreat leader Allison Kirsch with a special itinerary combining hiking, food, mountain villages, mythology, and Mediterranean landscape and culture.
In addition to Traverse’s group departures, Traverse can customize nearly all its itineraries for private groups of two or more. “I think people are looking for flexibility in when they’re able to travel and how they want to experience a place,” says Traverse founder and CEO Ashley Blake. “Just this year, we’ve had a spike in custom travel itineraries for Morocco, France and Jordan, as well as custom retreat groups, business retreats, even places that we don’t traditionally offer, such as Alaska.”
